Turning Services on and Off

How To Connect to Console Session using RDP Client in Vista SP1

If you have already applied Windows Vista SP1 the command “mstsc /console” would not work when trying to connect to a console session using RPD Client as Vista SP1 has changed the “/console” command to “/admin”.
This is a little change but I do not see the rationale with it. Anyways, happy “/admining….”

How to adjust indexing Options

To be able to adjust indexing options; go to Control Panel, then Performance Information and Tools. On the left side menu, click on “Adjust indexing options”.

Another Bootscreen in Windows Vista

There is another bootscreen you can enable in Windows Vista aside from the archaic meter we have seen in Windows for so many years.
To enable this:
1. Run msconfig with elevated privileges
2. On the boot tab, check “No GUI boot”. Click Ok

To take full control of any file:
1. Right click file, select properties.
2. Click on the security tab, then click on your username.
3. Click edit, then click your username on the pop up screen

Large List of Keyboard Shortcuts

TechRepublic has released a document which lists 76 keyboard shortcuts for Windows Vista. Personally, I don’t use keys that much and I am used to utilizing the mouse to the full extent; but for other people, they use the keys more than the mouse.

Tips & Tricks: How to Change Default Large Start Menu Icons

I hate the large start menu icons and as such I decided to change them. You should be able to change them by right-clicking on the start menu, click on properties and while the “Start Menu” is chosen click on the “customize” button.
