Windows 7 Release Date Confusion
I have previously written about Bill Gates saying that Windows 7 is going to be released in 2009. This was also reported around the web but Microsoft has this statement as released to SeattlePI:
“We are currently in the planning stages for Windows 7 and development is scoped to three years from Windows Vista Consumer GA. As is standard with the release of a new product, we will be releasing early builds of Windows 7 prior to its General Availability as a means to gain tester feedback. We’re not sharing additional information at this time.”
There seems to be a confusion as Bill Gates only said that there will be a new version of Windows in 2009 and has not specified the kind of Windows it was going to be released. It could be a beta version of 2009 but not the final one. It is said that the earliest date that Windows 7 is going to be released is on 2010.
