Windows Vista Language Packs

by Milo on December 23rd, 2007

The Windows Vista language packs is only allowed in Vista Ultimate and the Enterpise edition. Even if you get a separate language pack, it would not allow you to install it in other versions.

Below are the steps to help you install your desired language pack:

1. Go to Control Panel.
2. Then click Clock, Language, and Region
3. Regional and Language Options, Change display language.
4. On the Keyboard and Languages tab, click Install/uninstall languages under Display language.

Why do I have to pay for something in Vista which I got free in XP????

Language packs were free in XP Home and I have to pay for them to get Vista Enterprise or some equally stupidly named software as they don’t come with the Home Version? Ridiculous callous grab for more money. Can’t wait to steal my upgrade as there’s now way I’ll pay!

You could not change your *display* language in XP, guys.

Language packs, in order to read and type in different languages, are still part of every edition of Vista.

In Vista, however, you can change the language of Windows itself, if you have Ultimate or Enterprise. This means you can change the language that menus, error dialogs, welcome screen, etc are displayed in.
