Do not Wait for Windows Vista SP1 to Upgrade
A number of my friends put on hold upgrading to Windows Vista until Service Pack 1 is released.
Senior product manager of Microsoft, Pete McKiernan, said that the Service Pack 1 packages all other patches that were already released and almost all of the changes are under the system which means no noticeable difference visually.
McKiernan said that two new updates would be included in SP1 and they are improvements in the BitLocker drive encryption which is only available to Enterprise and Ultimate versions, and support for emerging hardware and standards — Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI), Extended File Allocation Table (exFAT).
Changes made by Windows Vista SP1 are in the categories of security enhancements, reliability enhancements, performance enhancements.
It’s time for my friends and everyone else to rethink their position of waiting for Windows Vista SP1 before upgrading — something I didn’t want to do.
