Activate Windows Vista to Prevent Blackout

by Milo on June 15th, 2007

Make sure you activate Windows Vista so as to be recognized as a genuine copy. Upon installation Microsoft Windows Vista treats itself as non-genuine, disabling Windows Aero and ReadyBoost.

This is not bad at all since you shouldn’t care less about Windows Aero as it does not impact productivity. I actually find Windows Aero as a waste of time. Likewise, you should not worry about ReadyBoost since your computer should perform fast given that there aren’t much applications installed. Also, you should have bought a computer with substantial amount of memory in it.

The problem comes after you fail to validate Windows Vista within 30 days because it blacks out your entire screen only showing an Internet Explorer icon which directly goes through the Microsoft page where you can purchase a genuine copy of Windows Vista.

How to Activate Windows Vista?

This “How To Guide: Activate Windows Vista after Upgrade or Reinstall of Operating System” article shows the same steps in activating your Windows Vista copy even if it was installed from a fresh copy using any edition.

Another option is to have the vendor you bought your computer from to activate Windows Vista; but often times, they charge you an amount for doing so.

Activating your Windows Vista copy right away is the best path to take as it will save you loads of trouble. Be excited to have it validated right away; after all, you paid good money for it.
