Windows Vista and Backstage of WOW

by Milo on May 21st, 2007

The design of Windows Vista is intended and more than enough to WOW consumers. It has done its part fairly well but there are so many features at the backstage of this WOW drive that could easily put the WOW effect on the side.

I for instance love the fact that Enterprise Windows Vista (as discussed here) is a superset of Windows Vista Business edition which can easily manage 4 virtualizations simultaneously.

I don’t care about Aero, I don’t care about the graphics, and all those WOW cheezy stuffs, but I care most about high-powered productivity wherein I could easily run Windows XP for deploying old applications in preparation for migration, Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition for my development needs, a separate domain controller via Virtual Server and a separate SharePoint 2007 / MOSS 2007 server all in one box. Sometimes, I kick in a virtualized Sandbox where I can install anything and try out anything before it goes to my development virtual machines.

While most of my needs are on the technical side, there are some people who are very enthusiastic of other common but not highlighted features like ReadyBoost, Flip3D and Windows Photo Gallery via bangkokpost.

Windows Vista may have a large learning curve at the start; but the benefits and power of Windows Vista in the long run is overwhelming amidst the negative critics people focus on.
