Windows Vista Beats Out Security Competition
Microsoft Windows Vista has beaten out the competition on security metrics. The strategy director of Microsoft’s security unit, Jeff Jones, noted that the vulnerabilities patched during the first three months of Windows Vista is lower than those reported on XP, Mac OS X 10.4, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Workstation, Ubuntu 6.06 LTS and Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10.
I have no doubt the amount and resources put by Microsoft on security contributed to the success of Windows Vista.
Jeff has this to say:
Vista has an improved security vulnerability profile over its predecessor, and a significantly better profile relative to comparable modern competitive operating systems.
Windows Vista was only hit by the antimalware scanning engine used by Windows Defender which has been corrected by Microsoft already.
