Why Would Apple Delay Leopard for Windows Vista?
I could not understand why would Apple delay Leopard to ensure Windows Vista is running smoothly on their OS.
It was reported here that Apple is delaying OS X 10.5 to September to make it Windows Vista compatible.
Can you ever imagine a scenario where Microsoft would delay Windows Vista to make it compatible with Apple? If they are so concerned that customers would want to run Windows Vista on Apple, then get Windows Vista instead.
Just my grain of salt.:)

“If they are so concerned that customers would want to run Windows Vista on Apple, then get Windows Vista instead.”
That kinda doesn’t make any sense. People who want to run Vista on their Mac DO get Vista. Then they install their copy on their Mac through Boot Camp.
Don’t you understand the reasoning behind the whole Boot Camp software that Apple provides? Oh yeah, first sentence of this post says, “I could not understand why would Apple delay Leopard to ensure Windows Vista is running smoothly on their OS.” Pretty simple really. Lots of people who use Macs have jobs or other things that requires them to use Windows from time to time. I for one am a Mac IT Manager and the router for the one of the T1 connections we have REQUIRES me to use Internet Explorer on Windows to log in and change settings. And now that Vista is out, it would be a good idea for Apple to support the latest Windows OS, don’t you think?
The guys at TUAW.com posted about this as well and said, “The idea is that built-in XP support won’t be enough to attract new switchers who want to use Vista.”

Dan — Simply put, MAC users can’t live without Windows Vista and Microsoft more than they care to admit. Microsoft users wouldn’t care less if Apple does not exist; but of course there are some little number of applications especially in the graphics area that designers desire on MAC.
With all these little number of applications, I think it would be best just to run them on Windows Vista rather than build their own OS. It’s a useless battle against Microsoft’s OS.

The fact that we want windoze on a mac should be flattering to microslop.
We already have the fastest and most reliable OS next to linux. We just need a copy of windows to open some programs or files that arent compatible

cooperk, I don’t think it flatters Microsoft a bit that MAC users want windows on a MAC. It’s more of “I told you so” feeling on the part of Microsoft.
Maybe to you its just some programs, some files, some of those little things. In the enterprise world where organizations have as much as 10k to 30k applications in their software inventory system, some is not small. Why in the world will I install MAC and virtualize Windows Vista when most of my time would be spent on Microsoft OS. The only thing MAC is good for is to function as a host environment which I don’t see any reason to do so.

Guys after reading your comments and various articles on the web I am planning to go for VISTA Ultimate edition (with Media Center). No fuss, no changing of OS required…Vista Ultimate is a good investment..enough of MAC and Vista fight. Given the sales figures, the features and compatibility with other applications Vista is ahead of the game when compared to MAC Leopard. Leopard is the last nail in MAC’s coffin, it has been struck in MAC (see you in hell).
