Is it Possible that Windows Vista is the Culprit to the Decline of Yahoo Search?
It is tough to prove that the launching of Windows Vista has caused the decline of Yahoo Search from 23 to 21 percent market share.
It makes sense that Microsoft’s Live Search has gained a 10 percent increase from January to February which is about the same time Windows Vista was launched to the consumers.
It could be that Yahoo and Ask’s market share has declined as Microsoft’s Live Search rose but the puzzling numbers point to Google’s market share which rose to 1 percent.
Does that mean that users of Microsoft Live Search would turn to Google when they don’t get the results they want? But how come the large decrease in Yahoo then? If Yahoo’s numbers went down it only means that people who are now using Microsoft Live Search were previous users of Yahoo, and if they didn’t get their results they should turn back to Yahoo Search instead.
Microsoft Live Search is the default search for Windows Vista.
