Why Wouldn’t I Trade My PC for MAC

by Milo on January 30th, 2007

Mac may have the better GUIs and stuff; but unless I am working independently, I would always prefer a standard product which everyone uses. I don’t want to waste time downloading converters, engines, etc. All I want is to plug and play stuff that I get from different sources.

Steve Ballmer lays down the statistics that prove Windows Vista is all about it’s broad support (As reported on IT Jungle). In an excerpt:

When Ballmer took the stage, he spent a lot of time rattling off statistics to show the depth of the code encompassed in Vista and Office 2007. Vista and Office 2007 are available today in 19 languages, and will be sold supporting 99 languages by the end of the year. “I don’t even think you can name 99 languages,” Ballmer said. Over 1.5 million hardware devices are supported in Vista, comprising over 31,000 different software drivers. More than 2,500 applications have already been certified on Vista, and untold thousands are waiting in the wings. Thousand of OEMs are ready to sell Vista boxes stating today, and over 39,000 retail outlets in 70 countries are also ready to ring up sales on the cash register. Ballmer predicted that over 1 million people in Europe and over 2 million people in the United States would buy, install, or support Vista in the coming year.

    Baaaaa! Keeping telling yourself that.

Fear is the greatest tool Microsoft has in selling Windows.

Of course, only Macs can run both Windows and Mac OS X. Not to mention Office for Mac reads and writes Windows format natively (no converters required).

Windows: 114,000 viruses standardized for it!

buying a new pc with vista was the worst thing i could have spent 1500 dollars on. integrated camera, 17″ screen, smart touchpad, terrible software. vista is slow and uncompatible with its own software (try downloading sidebar stuff and see what happens). New versions of word are NOT put on, only trial demos. new word is NOT compatible with any earlyer versions of itself, very user unfriendly, new interfaces are bulky and unpracticle. same old works for free. AOL stuff all over my hard drive. New office is TERRIBLE in general. new internet explorer that has NOTHING NEW AND USEFUL TO OFFER! btw, built in video camera in viao doesnt work and networking is even more complicated and unfriendly. Windows used to be great for people who liked to fiddle with their computer settings, but now its trying to be user firendly but comes off as annoying and controlling. (rumor has it vista users IP adresses are attached to all dowloaded items, saved for that day someone takes you to court over copywrite law). DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON VISTA! tell your friends, and tell me where to trade this in for a ibook.

Using more common operating system means more likely getting a virus and once attacked, you’ll waste your time having to reinstall the whole PC, I was recently converted from PC to mac, but still use Windows XP on my mac which is easy to do with a free utility included with the Mac called BootCamp which allows you turn on computer holding one button so you could choose which to load, the Mac OS or the Windows XP or Vista. Now that is a great thing, Another good observation having both Windows and Mac OS on same computer (the Macnitosh, and my friends have noticed that too) is that the Wi-fi sensing is more sensitive so it picks up more wireless. A lot of my friends have said that they returned their computers with Vista cuz it sucked and got Macs and happy with it and included the good ol’ XP. One more thing, I can’t really see Macs more expensive, due to Windows OS are actually more expensive while the current Mac OS X 10.5 with EVERYTHING, advanced movie editor, iLife, Photobooth, and everything for only 129 bucks and you can easily get Office programs, Photoshop for free in page, just go to http://www.opensourcemac.org/ where there’s all the free programs!!! Additionally I got a nice 13 inch WIDE screen laptop with built in camera, mic, bluetooth, the newest Wi-fi built-in, DVD-Rom, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB hard drive and more for only 1099.99!
