MS Employees angry about Vista delay

by Vincent on March 28th, 2006

MS VistaThe Vista delay has dissapointed a lot of people, including Microsoft employees. Postings on a Microsoft blog by company staffers over the past week reveal dismay, anger, and even demands for high-level resignations. This all because of the company’s delays of Vista consumer releases and Office desktop productivity suite. The Mini-Microsoft blog includes a number of diatribes from anonymous Microsoft staffers blasting the delays.

In a post from last Tuesday entitled “Vista 2007. Fire the leadership now” a blogger wrote:

I was upset at missing the back-to-school market. Now we’re missing the holiday sales market. All of those laptops and PCs are going to have XP on it. What percentage will upgrade to Vista? Well, I guess that’s the little dream that I need to give up on.

The blog posting received over 500 responses(!), many of which seemed to come from internal Microsoft staffers (via redherring.com).

HELLO FROM THE CREATOR OF FRIENDLYWINDOWS.COM.WINDOWS VISTA AND WINDOWS LIVE ARE STALE AND WITHERING NAMES. THEY HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO DO UNTOLD DAMAGE TO MICROSOFTS LONGTERM IMAGE NOT TO MENTION THE MORALE OF ITS WORLDWIDE STAFF. FRIENDLYWINDOWS.COM IS FOR SALE, THERE IS AND PROBABLY NEVER WILL BE A BETTER NAME, FOR A COMPUTER COMPANY. I AM ALSO TRYING TO SELL THIS NAME TO BARNES AND NOBLE AND A FEW OTHERS. ALERT GATES AND BALLMER IMEDIATELY. FROM VOPPELS EMAIL VOPPELS@VOPPELS.COM

Prediction by Vincent Ruane proven correct, in spite of a rumoured 300 million dollar advertising campaign for Windows Vista and a major sales advantage by getting Windows Vista on Dells new computers, sales of Windows Vista have been disapointing. Microsoft now have brought out two weak named products, ie the surname ZUNE and Windows Vista and with Vincent Ruane now suggesting, FRIENDLYWINDOWS.COM as an alternative search engine to challenge GOOGLE, and Yahoo it looks like Microsoft needs to get an advertising agency that’s as serious about the naming of Microsoft products as Microsofts surperb scientists are at developing new products. Could FRIENDLYWINDOWS.COM be the name the open source movement needs to finally challenge Microsoft for global computer software dominance. With Vincent Ruane also owning FRIENDLYWINDOWS.EU, FRIENDLYWINDOWS.DE and FRIENDLYWINDOWS.CN, Microsoft could finally be facing a name with global appeal that could really rattle its stock value.
