Windows Vista Aero not so cool
As we have implied here many times, Windows Vista will need a gaming-level graphics card to get the full effect from the Aero Glass enhanced 3-D facility. But is it worth it?
In a new review of Build 5112 of the operating system, eweek sounds a dubious note on the issue : “… as far as we can tell, the only thing Aero Glass gets you is translucent window decorations. The translucency looks cool, but we found that the effect made it difficult at times to discern where our window borders were, and it led to fumbling when dragging windows around.”
However : “We expect that Vista will run well with 512MB of RAM and pretty much any CPU that has shipped during the past few years.”
So those in rival camps who write off Vista as beyond the means of many should maybe reassess that view.

I have 735Mb of RAM, 32 MB Radeon Xpress 200 IGP, 2.4 Ghz Athlon 64, and vista ultimate. Vista Ultimate took up too much memory, but it ran pretty good most of the time, like Win2000 on a Win98 computer. I removed it because it was 100% incompatible with OSx86, even after repair.
